When is the race?

The FORTitude 10K will take place on Labor Day, which in 2019 is Monday, September 2. The first race wave will start at 8:00am.

What does my registration include?
  • Race Shirt
  • Snacks
  • Drinks
  • Bib with Official Timing Chip
  • Finisher’s Certificate
  • FORTitude GuaRUNtee
How do the waves and qualifying work?

Instead of one big start with all 10,000+ runners taking off at once, we divide everyone into about 20 waves organized by expected pace so that everyone can run their own race with people their own pace. Waves start with the fastest runners, then slower runners, then joggers, then walkers.

The FORTitude 10K is open to everyone. We want you to run, jog, or walk at your speed. There are over 20 waves, each organized by pace. Only the first 6-8 waves require a qualification time — these are designed and reserved for runners who will finish faster than 62 minutes. Use your BolderBOULDER time or ColderBOLDER time from the past 12 months, or any other race results two miles or longer within 12 months of the FORTitude 10K, and we’ll place you in the fastest wave possible. It’s important to register according to your anticipated pace. All other waves are open to everyone on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Be sure to give yourself enough time to park and get to the start line. The “A Wave” will kick-off the FORTitude 10K at 8:00 am. The final wave will be launched by approximately 8:45 a.m.

Can I change waves once I register?

If you want to change waves or run in a qualified wave, we can make that happen, assuming there are still bibs available in the wave you want. For $10, bib changes can be done at the solutions tent on race day or through our race office. To request a bib change, please email us. Keep in mind that you won’t be allowed to move up to a faster wave on race day.

How can I start with friends or family?

We can help you start with your family or friends; the rest of the day is up to you. If you want to be in the same start wave as someone else, register everyone online at the same time. In the appropriate field, enter the names of those you want to run with. Qualifying rules still apply and everyone in your group will be placed in the slowest person’s wave.

What if I sign up and don't race?

All registrations are automatically backed by the FORTitude GuaRUNtee. It means that if you sign up and don’t participate, we can roll your registration over to next year’s event for only $20. Don’t sweat it, you won’t need an excuse from your mom or a note from your doc.
